My Love of Remodeling

Hello I'm Risa Lee. When my husband and I bought our first home, it was with the intention of doing some major remodeling. We liked the basic floor plan, and it was cheap, but other than that, nothing was right about the house. It took us a while to get started because neither of us had the time or the knowledge. Finally, there was a summer when he had a three-week vacation. Instead of going on a trip, we used our time and money to finally get started on our remodel. To our surprise, we both fell in love with amateur construction! We have since bought and remodeled a few other homes because we love it so much. We're in no way professionals, but please feel free to join in our love and experience in basic construction. Maybe you will learn something!

Homeowners: Helpful Steps To Take When Dealing With Bed Bugs

One of the worst things to find in your home is a bed bug. This pest can cause all sorts of problems, and in order to deal with these bugs, you can take these steps:

Use Natural Remedies to Remove Bed Bugs

If you want to minimize health risks for you and your family, you can try natural remedies to deal with bed bugs. A lot of these bugs make their way onto the headboard and bed frame, so start with these two areas. Use a vacuum to clean the surfaces of the headboard and bed frame.

Then, you can put out a natural pesticide on and around your bed. These pesticides are 100 percent organic, and they are derived from plants. Not only do they kill bed bugs, but their eggs as well. They generally come in the form of a powder, which isn't difficult to administer. Since they are non-toxic, you don't have to worry about your pets or children getting sick when coming in contact with them.

Get Help From a Pest Control Service

You may not feel comfortable removing these bugs, or may simply not have the time. For either case, you can get help from a pest control service, like Desert Pest Control. These services will send out highly skilled specialists to deal with your bed bug problem.

First, the specialist will inspect your home, including your bed, furnishings, linens and rugs. He or she will then look for signs of bed bugs, which include dead bugs, small spots of blackish fecal matter and bed bug skin shells. To remove these pests, the professional can use a heat treatment. Using specialized equipment, the professional will raise the temperatures in your home. This kills the bugs at all stages – whether they are larva or full-sized adults.

Prevent Bed Bugs in the Future

To prevent your bed bug problem from resurfacing in the future, you need to be proactive and take certain steps. After being outside, make sure to put your clothes through a hot wash and dry cycle. This helps kill off any bed bugs on your clothes – preventing them from entering your home.

If you have recently traveled, make sure to inspect your luggage for bed bugs. Just to be safe, vacuum out your suitcase and make sure all of the clothes inside have been washed before bringing them back into your house.

If you find bed bugs in your home, these steps are important to take. They can help you alleviate these bugs in an apt manner – so you can move on with your life.
