My Love of Remodeling

Hello I'm Risa Lee. When my husband and I bought our first home, it was with the intention of doing some major remodeling. We liked the basic floor plan, and it was cheap, but other than that, nothing was right about the house. It took us a while to get started because neither of us had the time or the knowledge. Finally, there was a summer when he had a three-week vacation. Instead of going on a trip, we used our time and money to finally get started on our remodel. To our surprise, we both fell in love with amateur construction! We have since bought and remodeled a few other homes because we love it so much. We're in no way professionals, but please feel free to join in our love and experience in basic construction. Maybe you will learn something!

3 Ideas For Making Summer More Enjoyable With The Addition Of A Sunroom

If you're looking for a way to add value to your home with a room addition while creating a new space that you can enjoy year after year, a sunroom may be the perfect fit. If you already have an attractive view outside or a nicely landscaped backyard, you're likely looking for ways to make the most of the outdoor space. A sunroom can be built in the back of your home and provide a comfortable way to enjoy the outdoors without truly stepping outside.

In order for the sunroom to look fantastic once the building is finished, consider the following projects that you can implement.

Get Floor to Ceiling Windows Put In

An easy way to make your sunroom look stunning is getting floor to ceiling windows put in. These windows can be quite tall and provide a good way to bring in a lot of natural sunlight. Floor to ceiling windows can vary in their appearances quite a bit, along with dimensions, width and height wise. With the variations of these windows, you can make sure that you're able to get windows put into the sunroom that will bring in a lot of light and make the sunroom look fantastic.

Include a Way to Keep the Sunroom Cool

If you intend on using your sunroom a lot during the summer, it's a good idea to make sure that the room will be comfortable otherwise you might not use it. Some good ideas to consider include adding a ceiling fan during construction or even including central air conditioning from the rest of your home. Misters can also be installed along the perimeter of the sunroom, helping provide some cool misting water when you're relaxing outside.

Make Sure Not to Skip Insulation

While you'll want to keep the sunroom cool with the above ideas, you should make sure that the insulation matches the quality of the rest of your home. Since you're starting the sunroom with new construction, this is a good opportunity to make sure that the insulation is done properly. Focusing on all of the windows and any doors can make sure that the sealing is done right and that cool air and hot air won't scape from the sunroom to the outside.

Taking your time planning the design and construction of a sunroom will go a long ways towards creating a new space that you can enjoy throughout the whole summer and the rest of the seasons as well. Contact a business, such as Stritar Construction, for more information.
