My Love of Remodeling

Hello I'm Risa Lee. When my husband and I bought our first home, it was with the intention of doing some major remodeling. We liked the basic floor plan, and it was cheap, but other than that, nothing was right about the house. It took us a while to get started because neither of us had the time or the knowledge. Finally, there was a summer when he had a three-week vacation. Instead of going on a trip, we used our time and money to finally get started on our remodel. To our surprise, we both fell in love with amateur construction! We have since bought and remodeled a few other homes because we love it so much. We're in no way professionals, but please feel free to join in our love and experience in basic construction. Maybe you will learn something!

Need To Get Your Carpet Cleaned? 3 Helpful Tips To Keep It Clean For A Long Time

Carpet is unlike tile, hardwood, laminate, and concrete flooring in that you cannot just take a mop or broom and sweep up any dirt or dust that may be on the surface. These particles will first make impact with the top of the carpet fibers, and then they will eventually make their way deep into the material. This is when it starts to become a challenge to clean, and where the more powerful vacuums are generally able to shine. But, you will want to get professional carpet cleaning on occasion to give it a refreshed look. It is beneficial to follow several tips on making sure your carpet stays clean after you get the service.

Replace and Stock Up on Air Filters

The air filters in your home do a lot of work, but it is easy for them to go unnoticed. This is because when they are working well, you should not see dirt and dust particles floating in the air or coating the carpet and furniture. These filters block contaminants from getting through the heating and cooling system, which will not only keep the air ducts clean, but make sure your house stays clean as well. If you want the absolute best, you should stock up on HEPA filters, as they are ultra-efficient at pollutant blockage.

Perform a Thorough Dusting

You might have noticed your home starting to get a little dusty over time. This can happen for a variety of reasons, such as leaving the doors and windows open when it is rather windy outside. But it can also occur when you have not changed the air filter in a long time and it has stopped working effectively. It is an excellent time to dust the entire home so that it does not later make its way into the carpeting. A strategic approach is necessary to avoid kicking dust into areas that you have already cleaned. Start from the ceiling and move clockwise or counterclockwise around each room, preferably moving the duster in the direction you are heading so that dust particles that fly away will get picked up shortly after.

De-Shed Your Animals

Although some pets will only shed part of the year, most of them that spend the majority of their life indoors will end up shedding nonstop throughout the year. So, you should invest in and use a de-shedding tool to thoroughly brush any loose hair out of all of your pets' coats before getting your carpet cleaned. Handling this task outside is ideal, but it is natural for loose hairs to come off in the home after a de-shedding. This will just lead to the carpet cleaning service taking care of any leftover pet hair.
