My Love of Remodeling

Hello I'm Risa Lee. When my husband and I bought our first home, it was with the intention of doing some major remodeling. We liked the basic floor plan, and it was cheap, but other than that, nothing was right about the house. It took us a while to get started because neither of us had the time or the knowledge. Finally, there was a summer when he had a three-week vacation. Instead of going on a trip, we used our time and money to finally get started on our remodel. To our surprise, we both fell in love with amateur construction! We have since bought and remodeled a few other homes because we love it so much. We're in no way professionals, but please feel free to join in our love and experience in basic construction. Maybe you will learn something!

Three Questions And Answers For Those Considering Buying A Hot Tub

Having a hot tub can be a great way to increase the value of your home while also giving you and your family a convenient way to relax. Unfortunately, there are many homeowners that have a limited understanding about these complex devices. To help you be better prepared for the responsibility of owning a hot tub, you might need to have a few of the more commonly asked questions about these devices answered.

What Can Cause The Water Temperature To Decrease?

In order to keep the water in the hot tub warm, these devices will use a powerful heating element. These heating elements are designed to last for many years, but they will eventually need to be replaced. When the heating element is approaching the end of its lifespan, you may notice that the water is periodically cooler than normal or the system may be completely unable to warm the water. While it may be tempting to try to replace the heating element without hiring a professional, this can be a serious mistake as you will need to work with the electrical wiring of the hot tub. Incorrectly performing this repair can be both a safety hazard to you as well as pose a higher risk of the hot tub suffering further damage.

Should Outdoor Hot Tubs Be Covered?

If you have your hot tub outdoors, you should consider investing in a cover for it. A cover will help to minimize the amount of dirt, leaves, and sticks that can get into the water. Sadly, some people will not invest in this type of cover because they may be worried about lifting the cover into place. Luckily, there are automated systems that will allow you to quickly cover your hot tub by simply pushing a button.

Will A Hot Tub Be Expensive To Run?

The heating elements that will warm the water in your hot tub require large amounts of electricity to function. As a result, some homeowners might be worried about the energy costs of running these devices. However, you may be able to reduce or even eliminate this expense by using solar panels to power your system. These panels can be placed near the hot tub where they will generate enough power to run the system during the day. Battery systems will help to store excess energy during the day so that the hot tub can be used at night. The number and type of solar panels that your hot tub will require will depend on its size and energy requirements. Fortunately, a hot tub installation professional, such as those found at Kaupas Water, will be able to help you determine if this accessory will be worth the expense for your hot tub.
